For more than 25 years, the Friends of the Oak Creek Public Library has existed as an independent organization of people and businesses interested in assisting the library in developing programs, encouraging gifts, promoting knowledge and providing a channel for individuals and organizations to express ideas and make suggestions for library uses and services.
The Friends of the Library meetings are the 1st Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Tower Conference Room in the Oak Creek Civic Center.
Membership in the Friends of the Library is open to everyone. Annual dues range from $5 – $50. All money raised from membership dues goes to support the Oak Creek Public Library.
Near the Adult Media section on the 1st floor of the library, the Friends have an ongoing sale in the Book Nook. You’ll find books, magazines, CDs, DVDs and other materials. Items are added on a regular basis and there is usually something for everyone. Please check out the Book Nook the next time you’re at the library. The Friends of the Library host their annual plant sale the 1st Friday and Saturday of May at the Oak Creek Civic Center. All profits support the Oak Creek Public Library. For more information about the sale Contact Us.
The Friends are always looking for opportunities for members to volunteer at the library. Volunteer opportunities are shared with current members at the monthly meetings.
Each year, the Friends of the Library donates more than $4,000 to the Oak Creek Public Library. Past donations include:
- Sponsorship of the Summer Reading Program performers
- Movies at the library

- Library card holders for new library users
